The OEM oil heat exchanger located in the center valley of the 5.2 FSI V10 has been known to fail frequently enough that Lamborghini/Audi has implemented a vibration damper on some later models. If this unit fails the engine oil and coolant mix internally, which can cause severe engine issues and even catastrophic failure. It’s also possible for the cooler to leak externally creating a fire hazard. This billet single piece replacement is a much stronger unit than stock and can be used on both the older 5.2’s or the versions with the vibration damper. With the design change shifting from heating the engine oil via coolant and more towards separating the two systems, you will note a longer warm up time for the engine oil.
