What is the purpose of these brackets?
When you remove the factory rear valance (diffuser) on an R35 GT-R, the lower part of the bumper loses its structural support. These brackets bolt in to brace the bumper cover, preventing it from sagging or flapping at high speeds.
Why would I remove the rear valance?
Removing the rear valance is common in drag racing builds to reduce weight, improve aerodynamics (by reducing parachute drag), or to provide clearance for a parachute mounting kit.
How many brackets are included?
This kit is sold as a pair, providing the necessary bracing for both the left and right sides of the rear bumper.
Is modification required to install these?
Generally, no. These brackets are designed to utilize existing mounting points on the chassis and bumper to restore rigidity without requiring custom fabrication.
Will this work on all year model GT-Rs?
These brackets are designed for the R35 chassis. However, bumper styles changed slightly between CBA (09-11), DBA (12-16), and EBA (17+) models, so checking specific fitment for your bumper year is recommended.
These brackets install on the rear bumper just behind the wheel well. They create rigidity when the rear valence has been deleted. With the lower rear valance deleted, along with a number of the parts inside the rear bumper upwards of 26lbs can be saved.
