The Billet DL800 Transmission mount upgrade- a perfect blend of performance and streetability
The OEM transmission mount is notoriously soft and allows for substantial vertical movement during acceleration in high HP vehicles, shifts, and large bumps or defects in road surface. Due to the engine and transmission being coupled, the mode of deflection under load is directly downward against the rear trans mount and can compress the stock mount in excess of 1/2″ on 1400+whp vehicles.
Simply put, the OEM rubber mount is being pushed far past what it was designed to do and this can result in excessive movement, bouncing, and stressing of components such as turbo kits, exhaust tips against the body, OEM exhaust manifolds and more.
By reducing the amount of movement a drivetrain has in a vehicle, a number of positive outcomes can be achieved as well as negative outcomes when this philosophy is taken to the extreme of solid mounted race car power plants and gear boxes.
In this application, reducing the transmissions ability to compress downward corrects axle geometry as the inner CV is raised in relation to the outer CV. It also decreases wheel hop/tire shake resulting in fewer Torque spikes being transferred through the gears which is one of the primary failure modes on stock gear sets as well as upgraded.
As mounts become stiffer, additional vibration is felt and the manners of the car can quickly degrade. Our focus was to create a modular system that had adjustability of stiffness so that users could set up their cars to their personal liking or application. 88A bushings are included for extremely demanding applications such as 2000+whp drag cars.
62A and 70A bushing options are available upon request.
5lbs lighter than factory mount.
