The GPS-L5 is a 5 Hz GPS which combines the electronics and antenna into one small unit. A highly sensitive receiver allows the GPS to lock onto signals even in difficult environments. It is fitted with a DTM connector and is pre-configured to be compatible with MoTeC ‘Hundred Series’ and M84 ECUs.
This unit is suitable for speed, position and lap timing.
The primary difference is the update rate and baud rate. The GPS-L5 operates at 5Hz (19200 baud), making it compatible with MoTeC ECUs (M84/M800), whereas the L10 is too fast for those older ECU serial ports.
The GPS-L5 is pre-configured to work with MoTeC 'Hundred Series' ECUs (M400, M600, M800, M880) and the M84 ECU, provided they are on the correct firmware versions.
Yes. While it is designed for ECUs, it is also fully compatible with MoTeC Display Loggers like the C125, C185, ADL3, and SDL3, though the L10 is often preferred for dashes due to its higher speed.
The unit features a strong magnetic base for easy roof or chassis mounting and comes with a 3-meter flying lead terminated with a 4-pin Deutsch DTM connector.
It provides GPS speed (useful for traction control calibration), vehicle position (for track mapping), and lap timing coordinates via RS232 communication.
