We are proud to introduce an industry first product design for a removable parachute mount for the second generation Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan. Our mission here at the lab was clear… (1) Develop a completely removable parachute system that does not leave behind unsightly holes in your expensive super car body work and (2) Design a way to remove this system without the use of any tools by the end user. This was truly a collaborative effort by our team to find innovative ways to bring this to market all while following the rules for NHRA and FIA for parachute systems. We understand that these cars have gained leaps and bounds in just a few short years in terms of speed and ET at the drag strip and in roll racing competition. However, the safety gear for this platform has lagged behind, and we suspect that most customers are just not willing to permanently modify their V10 twin turbo super car to allow for a parachute to be installed. Let’s be honest here, these cars are incredible in that they can eclipse speeds of 180mph at the drag strip and well over 200 in roll racing competition in 100% street trim. While the braking system is extremely good, it is not the only thing you should rely on to slow you down. A properly mounted parachute will safely slow your vehicle down to a speed that will not require heavy braking at the big end of the race track and will potentially save you and straighten out the car if things get out of sorts.

Our design uses the existing mounting location for the rear transmission mount. This is a reinforced area of the chassis by nature and has also allowed for us to mount the center of the receiver tube extremely close to the crank center line of the engine. Placing the parachute receiver tube here ensures that the car will not become unsettled when the parachute deploys and starts to decelerate the vehicle. Our custom mount requires no cutting or modification to the chassis and is reinforced in several areas with custom hardware to ensure the strength is there when it is needed most.

When it comes to the controls for our parachute for the second generation Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan we wanted to match the quality and design of the vehicle. Using a billet aluminum control cable to release the parachute from the vehicle was the natural solution and is right at home in the engine bay. To the untrained eye, onlookers would not know it didn’t belong there in the first place. For the interior release handle we chose an under seat design that retains full functionality of the passenger seat and requires zero cutting of your expensive trim panels in order to fit it. The design of the handle is slim so your passenger is not obstructed by it in any way and allows for a natural position to pull when the time comes to deploy the parachute. Custom colors, upholstery, and materials are available for an even more customized look.

GT1R Parachute Release Kit

The kit includes our tried and true release handle mount that fits the commonly used Titan rollbar, the release cable, lever, and all necessary hardware for installation.  This kit will work with a number of different roll cages/bars.

The GT1R CO2 Parachute Release Kit is the safest and most complete parachute release kit ever available for the R35 GT-R platform. The CO2 release handle allows the driver to actuate the handle a number of different ways all while keeping both hands on the wheel.

With the huge increase in users switching over to small rear brakes and 15″ wheels to gain traction, the need for a good parachute solution has become more important than ever. After many requests, we made some time to duplicate the setup on the T1 race car, and now it’s available as a bolt on solution for your R35 GTR.

The parachute attaches to the frame rails, where the original aluminum bumper beam attached.

– You will not have the factory crash support bumper with this component, this is for off-road use only.

– This kit is designed for use with a single parachute only, do not modify or use with any dual parachute setups.

Installation Instructions

GT1R Carbon RBK

GT1R Carbon Drag Rear Brake Kit. Includes Strange 11″ carbon rotors, Strange carbon pads, T1 brake caliper adaptor, brake lines, and all fasteners.   The rear brakes are designed to fit the Nissan 370z upright used in the GT1R Drag Packs, these do not fit the Nissan GTR rear upright, but they ARE suitable for street use.

GT1R Carbon Rear Brake Kit Weight Savings:

From stock – 29lbs per side (58lb total savings)

From GT1R Steel Rear Drag Brake Kit – 14lbs per side (28lb total savings)

Installation instructions can be found HERE. Strange recommends retorquing the rotor hats before every event (15-20 ft-lbs.)

*If not already equipped, ARP extended wheel studs will need to be installed with this brake kit.

GT1R 15×12″ Carbon Rear Drag Pack

The GT1R Carbon Rear Drag Pack is the single most refined and effective brake/wheel combo for your drag-prepped R35 GT-R.  Like our GT1R Carbon Front Drag Pack the lightweight rear wheels can be ordered in either beadlock or non-beadlock styles, and the brakes save an astonishing 58lbs over stock.

Strange recommends retorquing the rotor hats before every event (15-20 ft-lbs.)

With the release of our GT1R Carbon Drag Front Brake Kit and the GT1R 17×10″ Belak Industries drag wheels, there has never been a more potent front drag pack for the R35 community. Between the 64lbs of weight savings in front brakes from stock and additional weight savings from either a beadlock or non-beadlock wheels a noticeable improvement in 1/4 ET’s is guaranteed.

GT1R C127 PNP Harness – Race Version

The race version of our harness allows for full OE cluster removal like the street harness, but instead of
using the available inputs for street oriented things, we’ve used some of the inputs/outputs for more
race oriented things, and made the additional spares gained more readily available than on our street
harness.
The normal configuration comes with a PNP connector to allow removal of the ‘R switches’, as common
when swapping to a carbon dash in a race car. When doing this, the C127 is programmed to trigger
both the R for Trans mode and the VDC off every time the engine starts, taking one more step out of the
driver’s hands. The dash is also setup to display the trans R mode state, so you can be sure it’s enabled
for racing.
We also incorporate an input from a button on the wheel for a pneumatic release parachute lever.
From this button we apply logic in the dash programming to ensure that the button will only work to
release the chute over a certain MPH, ensuring it doesn’t accidentally get dumped in the staging lanes!
If using a pneumatic launcher chute, it’s critical that the CO2 system is ‘armed’, as the CO2 to the chutes
has to be shut off each time they’re re-packed. We recommend installing a Hobbs pressure switch on
that portion of the CO2 system, then wiring to this harness as a CO2 armed input. In doing so, we are
able to flash an alarm at the driver to let them know if a run is being attempted without the CO2 switch
at the chute being armed.
There’s a ton of capability with these dashes in a race application, and plenty of inputs and outputs to
